Cardiovascular Screen Services
Direct measurement of blood pressure and heart rate over hours or days in conscious rats provides a useful cardiovascular screen. Measurements in unrestrained rats accurately represent cardiovascular function without stress. Measurements are automatically taken and recorded every 10 seconds for prolonged periods (e.g. hours to weeks) and then averaged over time to give steady state information. The direct blood pressure approach allows long-term pressure recordings under conditions of low stress. The technique is versatile and can be used for acute studies in anesthetized rats or long-term monitoring.
